This fabric collage captures a red fox caught mid-turn, its ears perked and eyes alert—just as you might spot one pausing in the dunes. Made with hand-dyed fabrics, the piece includes a sand-textured cloth overdyed with burnt sienna to echo the warm tones of Park Point’s shoreline. Layer by layer, fabric builds the fox’s rich fur and the grasses around it, bringing texture and dimension to the scene.
Red Fox was awarded Third Place Jury Prize at the 30th Annual Arts North International at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. It’s a piece that honors both the fox’s quiet presence and the natural beauty of Minnesota’s Lake Superior coast.
