This piece captures a cluster of lingonberries just as they begin to ripen—a moment of quiet anticipation for anyone who forages. In Minnesota, lingonberries grow wild, but they're not easy to find. They thrive only in very specific habitats like spruce and cedar sphagnum bogs, open sandy forests, and rocky outcrops.
By showing the berries before they’re fully red, I wanted to reflect the quiet satisfaction of spotting them early—giving you a chance to return before birds or other animals get to them first. The collage is made with hand-dyed fabrics, layered onto unbleached canvas and framed in weathered cedar, evoking the natural landscapes where these elusive berries grow.
A tribute to patience, observation, and the joy of finding something rare in the wild.
Weathered Cedar wood frame with plexi glass.
