Norwegian style Brukskniv (belt knife) with a hand-stitched leather sheath.
This style is modeled after a Brukskniv (“for work”) which was an essential, everyday tool carried by all going back to the Viking Age.
Blade: Mora (Sweden) carbon steel
Handle: Stabilized and green dyed Oregon Maple burl, stabilized Arizona Sycamore, Corian and pewter
Sheath: Cowhide leather
Handcrafted by Scott Ostern of Ravn Kniv, based in Saginaw, Minnesota.
Scott has been designing and making Norwegian knives since 2012, utilizing techniques that he learned in a folk school setting. He uses various woods from around the world and decorative elements like pewter, brass, copper and synthetic stones in the handles. The sheaths are hand-stitched leather with soft deer lace lanyards. All blades are forged by Scandinavian makers. Each piece is one-of-a-kind!
